“McCauley Directors Must Review Job Losses” – Browne

J

Wexford TD James Browne has called on the McCauley Group Board of Directors to review their decision to permanently lay off Sam McCauley Beauty Salons staff.

Deputy Browne said,

“Unfortunately, Sam McCauley Pharmacy Group has decided to not to reopen its beauty salons in line of the third phase of easing Government restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“As we begin to see the gradual lifting of restrictions, businesses can continue to avail of Revenue’s temporary wage subsidy scheme. This state support scheme gives the McCauley Group Directors the ability to avoid beauty salon staff job losses and review their operations without laying these people off for good. I have contacted the McCauley Group CEO Tony McEntee to explore how these job losses can be reversed.”

“This is a very worrying time for the families of beauty salon staff and their loved ones. Support for staff let go in the shape of social protection support, and guidance in seeking new employment opportunities should be provided”.
