An Taisce has announced the 90 Blue Flags and 60 Green Coast Awards for the beaches throughout Ireland.
The Blue Flag programme aims to raise environmental awareness and promote sound environmental management of beaches, marinas and inland bathing waters around the world.
The Green Coast Award recognises beaches for their clean environment, water quality and natural beauty.
In Wexford, Ballymoney North Beach, Morriscastle, Ballinesker, Curracloe, Rosslare, and Carne, have secure Blue Flag status, but Wexford County Council has withdrawn the Blue Flag awarded to Courtown beach, due to the lower than normal beach sand levels.
Cahore Point, Old Bawn, Culleton’s Gap, St Helen’s Bay, Ballyhealy, Cullenstown, Baginbun, Booley Bay, and Grange, have all received the Green Coast Award.
