Welcome news for Leaving Cert Students – You’ve passed Irish already

Leaving cert students have received some interesting news with the announcement today from the Department of Education that the Oral examinations in all subjects have been cancelled and students will be awarded full marks for that aspect.

This include the oral examinations in all languages, the most commonly studied are Irish, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

In the case of the Irish exam, the Oral is worth 40% of the overall mark, which means that, by awarding full marks, all students have passed Irish.

Students of French and German will receive full marks of either 25% (Higher Level) or 20% (Ordinary Level)

However, one caveat to this, students will not be allowed to change levels (Higher, Ordinary, Foundation), they must sit the level they are currently registered to sit.
