Traditionally the Lingstown point-to-point takes place on the weekend before the Cheltenham Festival and there is an exodus of supporters heading to Rosslare Europort soon afterwards, but this year there is an international flavour to the Lingstown fixture on Sunday, March 8th.
Highlight on the day is a valuable race over the famous Lingstown banks course, the Hearne Line Marketing Open Lightweight Race worth €3,050. This is the richest point-to-point run anywhere in this country and the extra prizemoney is an incentive to attracting an international field.
This spectacular jumping contest is open to overseas entries and the Killinick Harriers are extending invitations for horses with an English or Welsh Hunter Certificate to run in this race.
Entries for Irish horses will close as usual at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 3rd, however, British connections should note that entries for horses with English or Welsh Hunter Certificates will close a day earlier at 1 pm on Monday, March 2nd.
Entries cost €60 per horse, and UK entries can only be
made by phoning the office on 00353 45885622. These UK entries are now open.
Any British owner or handler interested in entering a horse for the race, should email a copy of their horse’s passport to email@example.com and it will be reviewed by the IHRB to ensure it complies with the vaccination rules before travelling.
British-based riders will be required to hold the equivalent of an Irish A3 Licence to ride in the race, which is a dual Cat A Licence.
Further queries, should be made by phone to the office on 00353-45885622 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
