Brighter shop fronts for three local towns!

Enniscorthy Municipal District Council is to consider the introduction of a ‘Paint the Shop Scheme’ in the towns of Enniscorthy, Bunclody and Ferns. The idea was floated by District Manager Ger Mackey at the monthly meeting of the local authority.

The way it would work is that business owners would arrange to have the façade of their premises painted in return for a ‘paint the shop’ grant! However, Mr Mackey suggested that “the advice of a colour consultant would be sought to consider an overall look for the towns.”

Mr Mackey felt the town(s) need a freshen up and he hoped to draw on the business community and it emerged that funding of around €100,000 would be available throughout the lifetime of the scheme which would run over a few years.

The original proposal was to bring the scheme to Enniscorthy and Bunclody, but members requested that Ferns be included.
