MOVIES@Gorey is one of only seven cinemas in Ireland chosen to screen the new fine-art documentary film, “Tintoretto: A Rebel in Venice”.
The Helena Bonham Carter narrated documentary, marking the 500th anniversary of Jacopo Robusti’s (Tintoretto) birthday, will be available to see in Ireland (and across the UK) on the 26th February in participating cinemas for one day only.
The film is part of a series of three films coming to cinemas this year that celebrates art, culture and the history of some of the greatest museums and artists.
In Tintoretto, delve into 16th century Venice and journey around the great city to see what moulded Tintoretto into the last great artist of the Italian Renaissance. It will explore the rivalry among the most important Venetian artists of the 16th century: Tintoretto, Titian and Veronese. This visually spectacular new art film explores Tintoretto as the true mirror of Venice. A one-of-a-kind genius, open-minded, restless, brave and with a strong love for freedom—as well as unstable and elusive—he reflected the true spirit of the lagoon city.
