The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, conducted by Gavin Murphy, is presenting the first performance of “A Woman’s Heart Orchestrated”, with local girl, Wallis Bird, Eleanor McEvoy and Maura O’Connell in the National Opera House, Wexford, on Tuesday night at 7.30pm.
It should be a fantastic night, Maura has come out of retirement especially for it! The first Dublin date sold out so fast a second was added and then a third.
A Woman’s Heart album was recorded back in 1992; a compilation of twelve tracks, performed by six female Irish artists, Eleanor McEvoy, Mary Black, Dolores Keane, Sharon Shannon, Frances Black and Maura O’Connell. It sold over 750,000 copies, more than any other album in Irish chart history, and nearly one million copies worldwide.
Wallis told WexfordToday,
“I’m so proud to be coming home with this show, with these extraordinary women, and this mind-blowing orchestra in what I consider (and not just because I’m biased!) one of the BEST concert halls I’ve ever set foot in.
“We have a really gorgeous, nostalgic, powerful and hilarious show. So if you’re thinking of coming just do it, honestly, you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t because we’re loving it.”
