Caoimhe scores winner for Enniscorthy L2

Enniscorthy 1
Bray 0

Enniscorthy’s ladies seconds resumed their season on Saturday with a home game against Bray.

Despite the very cold and wet conditions, Enniscorthy applied strong pressure from the start. This pressure paid off towards the end of the first quarter with a deft pass from Amy Murphy to a well-positioned Caoimhe Larkin resulting in the opening score of the game.
Bray responded strongly during the remainder of the first half forcing a penalty corner followed quickly by a penalty flick, but Enniscorthy ‘keeper Kate Freeman made a vital save.

Enniscorthy began the second half as they did the first, applying strong pressure from the outset. They retained the upper hand throughout the third quarter forcing a series of penalty corners. The final quarter continued in the same vein with Enniscorthy maintaining the majority of possession.

Bray continued to apply pressure of their own through the final quarter, however, Enniscorthy’s defence of Amy D’Alton, Kelly Robinson, Ellen Creed, and Ailbhe Harrington responded well and kept them at bay, the Slaneysiders holding out for all three points.

Enniscorthy currently hold fourth place in the league

A big test for fourth-placed Enniscorthy awaits on Saturday as they travel to league leaders Portrane, hoping to close the gap on fellow promotion chasers Trinity College and Muckross.

Squad: Kate Freeman, Amy D’Alton, Kelly Robinson, Ellen Creed, Ailbhe Harrington, Megan Dempsey, Amy Murphy, Caoimhe Larkin, Laura Redmond, Ciara Parnell, Lisa Frayne, Laura Sutton, Eleanor Bolger, Dervla Walsh, Charlotte Stammers
