Enniscorthy Sports Hub is to receive a €300,000 New Year’s funding that will transform athletics in the town. That’s according to Minister Paul Kehoe who confirmed the funding as part of the Government’s Capital Grant Scheme to WexfordToday.com today.
The project will involve the upgrade of the existing athletics facility to include the provision of a sports amenity building and the construction of a throwing cage for discus and hammer.
The total cost of the project is estimated at €499,000 – with €300,000 being provided from central Government funding.
Minister Kehoe said that funding under the Sports Capital Grant scheme has transformed clubs across Wexford and that is just the latest example of the Government’s commitment to providing opportunities for young people.
“This will help Enniscorthy Sports Hub stand out as an athletics venue in the South East. It is a major investment and an endorsement in the town. I know this work, when completed, will make such a difference to athletes young and old,” concluded Minister Kehoe.
