Double for Michael Goff and Shane Fitzgerald

MICHAEL GOFF enjoyed success at Dromahane point-to-point today.

Point-to-point took place today at Mainstown, Co. Kilkenny where the Tattersalls Ireland four-year-old maiden race was divided three ways with Clondaw, Monageer, handler Michael Goff and his stable rider Shane Fitzgerald winning two of them.

He’s A Hardy Bloke was a four lengths winner of division two while Sir Sholokhov had ten lengths to spare at the end of division three. Both winners were in the colours of Caitriona Goff.

The first division went to Across The Channel for the Milestone Racing Partnership, handler Colin Bowe and rider Barry O’Neill. It was close on the line with only a neck separating the Kiltealy horse from Junior Rattler for father and son team, John and James Walsh, Preban, Tinahely.

Mr Mantilla, who won a maiden contest at Knockmullen, New Ross, a few weeks earlier, made it two wins from as many runs and a one and a half length success for the breeder, owner and handler team of Vincent and James Devereux, Rostoonstown Stud, Tomhaggard. The winning rider was Shane O’Rourke from Horetown. Foulksmills, in the Winner of One race.

There was also success for Harley Dunne, Blackwater. He was aboard Sofias Castle for handler Jason O’Reilly in the mares’ maiden race and the winning margin was eight lengths.

Next Sunday’s meeting is at Borris House, Co. Carlow, where the first race is off at 12 noon.
