Early tally indications that Verona Murphy and Malcolm Byrne are showing the way. Sinn Fein’s Johnny Mythen has got off to a good start in the Gorey and Enniscorthy districts. George Lawlor has been picking up votes, but the Wexford boxes have yet to open. Likewise Jim Codd’s chances in south Wexford will improve when the Rosslare district ballot is examined. There is a long way to go and it’s all to play for.
Over 100 staff are involved in the counting process under the direction of County Registrar Marie Garahy. Tally persons from all the main parties are in attendance.
