Video Highlights- Wexford v Defence Forces

Wexford 1
Defence Forces 3

The Defence Forces came out on top in the league stage of the Oscar Traynor Cup in Ferrycarrig Park on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors scored against the run of play, a poorly defended header from Ronan Kerins, saw them go into the break at 1-0.

Wexford started best in the second half, they created at least half a dozen chances but failed to convert.

Gavin Dillon had a tap in to put the Defence Forces 2-0; a long free was not dealt with, the resulting shot was parried and fell kindly to Dillon.

Kyle Dempsey’s goal reduced the margin to 2-1, but again the visitors were gifted a third goal, a poor back pass gave Adrian Rafferty possession; he still had plenty to do but scored from a very tight angle.
