Wexford Youths 4
Galway WFC 2
Wexford Youths booked their place in the 2019 Só Hotels FAI Cup Final, following Saturday’s, 4-2 win, over Galway WFC at Ferrycarrig Park.
A goalkeeping error after 20 minutes saw the home side fall behind to an Aoife Thompson goal. Parity was restored five minutes later as McKenna Davidson goaled following good pressure on the Galway defense. Minutes later the Wexford goal scorer turned provider as she crossed perfectly for Jarrett, who neatly slotted the ball to the corner of the net, 2-1 for the home-side. Youths may well have added to their tally but twice the crossbar denied Lauren Kelly.
The crossbar again came to the rescue of Galway early in the second half, as Jarrett rattled the woodwork, but she followed up to make it 3-1. A goalmouth scramble from a corner saw Aoife Thompson, grab her second of the game for the visitors, to make it 3-2. The ever-dangerous Jarrett was pulled down on one of her many runs, and Kylie Murphy converted the resulting penalty, 4-2.
Wexford Youths will now face either, Peamount Utd or Shelbourne, who play on Wednesday night, in the final in the Aviva.
