Wexford “Chippers” fared well at the recent “Irish Takeaway Awards”; the “Fish & Chip Takeaway of the Year” went to The Little Saltee Chipper, in Kilmore Quay and Mangans Traditional Fish & Chips, in the Faythe, received, “The Champion Chip Award”.

The awards were created by the team behind YesChef, a food and drink magazine, the awards were handed out on Monday night, in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, after people submitted their nominations for their favourite takeaway spots.

The Little Saltee Chipper carried off three awards on the night, “Leinster Fish & Chip”, “All Ireland Fish & Chip” but most importantly, “Overall Irish Takeaway of the Year 2019”. Both a chipper and restaurant, it serves a wide homemade selection of fresh fish and chips alongside a traditional takeaway menu, open from 12.30, Thursday to Sunday, you should phone 053-9129911, to avoid disappointment.
