Senior camogie group stages conclude

It’s a hectic weekend with the final round fixtures in the hurling chanpionship, it’s also a big weekend with the final round of senior camogie championship taking place on Saturday evening.

Oulart The Ballagh take on county and leinster champions St Martins in Oulart at 8.00pm to see who takes top spot. Both sides have won their three games to date, recording a healthy score difference, but given the healthy rivalary between the sides, it’s sure to be an entertaining game and both teams will be keen to lay down a marker for the championship proper.

In the other tie Rathnure take on St Ibars in Rathnure at 6.30pm with all to play for. Victory for St Ibars will force a play off between themselves, Rathnure and Glynn Barntown to see who takes the remaining semi final spots, while victory for Rathnure would see St Ibars out with Rathnure and Glynn Barntown taking the final two semi final spots. With confidence high for the Curracloe girls following last weeks football win this is sure to be a close game but Rathnure with home advantage will fancy their chances of progressing to the semi final.

With Rathnure, Shelmaliers and Oulart hurlers all playing at 6.00pm on Saturday its very unfortunate that both fixtures committees couldn’t fix games to suit all involved, hopefully if there’s clashes over the next few weeks when both championships are at the knock out stages common sense will prevail and allow supporters to support both their men and womens teams.
