Gorey to host 2019 Texaco Children’s Art Exhibition

Gorey Civic Offices in Civic Square is to be the venue for an exhibition of 37 winning paintings from this year’s 65th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

The official opening will take place on Thursday, August 1st, and will remain open to the public each day until Sunday, September 1st through the ‘My Open Library’ programme. Admission is free.

Amongst the highlights being exhibited will be a painting entitled ‘Lifelines’ by Naoise Hennessy, a 16-year old student from Craanford, near Gorey. Naoise will shortly be travelling to Japan, having been invited to attend the 20th International High School Arts Festival in Tokyo, following her success in becoming the overall winner in this year’s 65th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

Also showing at the exhibition will be works by four Wexford students who won Special Merit Awards in this year’s competition. They are Sadhbh Quinn (16), from Loreto Secondary School, Ballynagee; Benjamin Blair (9), from Gorey Central School; Maya Rubin-Rahn (11), from Gorey Educate Together National School and Áine Gunning (6), from Kilmore National School.
