Canon Kinsella former PP at Oylegate has died

CANON TOBIAS KINSELLA

The death has occurred of Canon Tobias Kinsella, (89), of Umrigar, Carnew, who served as parish priest at Oylegate for almost 30 years from November 1980 till December 2009.

Son of the late Thomas and Catherine Kinsella, (nee McCrea), he was born in 1930, he was educated at Carnew National School, St. Peter’s College and Maynooth College where he was ordained to the priesthood on June 17th 1956.

In August 1956, Fr Kinsella was appointed to St. Mary of the Angels, Baywater, London. Subsequently, he was appointed curate at Raheen in January 1957, Tinahely in 1965, Tacumshane in 1971, The Ballagh in June 1974.

He was appointed parish priest of Oylegate on November 10th 1980 and retired through ill health in December 2009.

Loving brother of the late Essie (Lynch) and Michael. After a long illness bravely borne, Toby died peacefully at Tallaght Hospital surrounded by his family after years in the wonderful care of the staff of Bloomfield Nursing Home in Rathfarnham. Deeply regretted by his sisters Ellen (O’Carroll), Joan (Tiernan) and Mary (Ridgway) and his brothers James, Tommie, Pat, Lawrence and Joseph, his sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, his many relatives, friends and parishioners, Bishop Brennan and fellow priests of the Diocese of Ferns. May he rest in peace.

Funeral arriving to The Church of The Sacred Heart, Donnybrook on Monday, July 8th, for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in Tomacork Cemetery, Carnew, Co. Wicklow, arriving for 2 o’clock approximately.
