Symposium to celebrate 250 years of Monksgrange

250 years and ten generations and now it is time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the building of Monksgrange House by Goddard Richards, to mark the occasion with history, heritage and pride, a Symposium takes place on Saturday, August 24th.
Speakers include Prof. Sean Duffy (medieval historian), Dr. Edward McParland (architectural historian), Anthony Hobbs (photographic consultant), Robert O’Byrne (Fine Arts consultant) and Susan Corr (paper conservator).
Snack lunch included in ticket price €65. Registration 10 am for 11 am start with 4.30 pm close.
Also Professor Roy Foster will launch Dr. Philip Bull’s Monksgrange; Portrait of an Irish house and family, 1769-1969, published by Four Courts Press, during the symposium.
Garden Open Day is free on Sunday, August 25th with lecture by Patrick Bowe at 2 pm and a guided tour by Jeremy Hill at 3.30 pm.
The Edward Richards-Orpen Memorial Trust, proprietor of Monksgrange Archives, will benefit from any surplus following the event.
