Tributes paid to ex-GAA chief Simon Kennedy


Tributes are pouring in for Simon Kennedy, Duncannon, who was a passionate GAA enthusiast and proudly served as Chairman of Wexford County GAA Board on three occasions, 1985-1987, inclusive.
A solicitor with a practice on Charles St., New Ross, Mr. Kennedy passed away yesterday (Monday) in a Dublin Hospital.
He utilised his energy for the betterment of society and his warm and friendly approach endeared him to all who made his aquaintance.
He was a keen student of local history and supported historical seminars and lectures pertaining to the New Ross area. He maintained a life-long interest in community affairs and was a proud Wexfordman.
The death has occured of Simon W. Kennedy, “Ardlegrein,” Duncannon, New Ross, on June 10th 2019 at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin.
Beloved husband of Lillian and loving father of Sinéad (Fox), Patrick, Brian, Niamh, Gráinne and Niall.
Deeply regretted by his adored grandchildren Ciarán, Cathal, Laoise, Jack and Darragh, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister Ann (French), brothers Phil, Martin and John, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Wellingtonbridge, on Wednesday from 2 pm to 9 pm.
Funeral arriving on Thursday to The Star of The Sea Church, Duncannon, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Family flowers only please donations in lieu to St. James’s Hospital Foundation.
