Lead artist, Michelle Browne, and her team will at Taghmon’s St Fintan’s National School for a fun, community-engaging parade which starts out from the school at 1 pm and finishes in the Market Square.
Browne aims to capture the vibrant heritage of the town, still a great source of pride to those living there. We want everyone to join in.
“Our parade will march from St. Fintan’s school to the Square. Working with artist Jennie Roddy, pupils have been busy creating costumes and the Men’s Shed have been building structures for this spectacle which should not be missed,” she said.
The three county Bring Your Own Chair initiative is an art project taking place in rural towns and villages across counties Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford throughout the past year
As the heart of small towns in Ireland face decline, Bring Your Own Chair is breathing life back into communities and their public gathering spaces. Taghmon is one of a handful of towns selected to partake.
Bring Your Own Chair is funded by the Arts Council Ireland Making Great Art Work – Open Call Award and with further support from Create Ireland/Collaborative Arts Partnership Programme, Design & Crafts Council of Ireland, Waterford Council, Kilkenny Arts Office, County Wexford and Kilkenny LEADER Partnership and Waterford Úradás na Gaeltachta.
