New SNAs is great news for Wexford schools

The announcement of 800 new Special Needs Assistants by Minister for Education Joe McHugh is great news for County Wexford schools.
This will bring the total number of SNAs to 506 locally, with 327 posts in Primary, 119 posts in Post Primary and 60 posts in Special schools.
Minister Michael D’Arcy said: “The aim of this Government is to ensure that children with special educational needs can be supported to fully participate in schools and fulfil their potential.
“Special Needs Assistants play a key role in ensuring this and I would like to firstly take this opportunity to pay credit to the fantastic work that they do in schools across County Wexford.
“Minister McHugh has confirmed to me that there will be an allocation of 506 SNA posts across County Wexford, an increase of 30 posts from last year.
“This announcement will ensure every child who needs SNA support in the county will receive it.
“Furthermore, special needs children getting the attention they need will have a positive knock on effect for all students,” the Fine Gael Minister said.
