Call for Wexford CBS polling station be restored

JOE RYAN. Labour candidate who believes that Wexford CBS polling station should be restored.

Labour Party local election candidate in Wexford town, Joe Ryan says he’s disappointed that the CBS polling station will not be available at the forthcoming local elections.
Since construction commenced at the primary school in 2018 voting for local people had been switched to Kennedy Park National School.
Mr Ryan said that it was for understandable reasons that voting in the repeal referendum and the presidential election was held elsewhere, however, there are a number of issues, especially elderly people who find it difficult to access such a large polling station with many booths as Kennedy Park.
Mr Ryan said that the CBS primary school was open since Autumn 2018 and there is no good reason why voting could not be possible once more on Green St.
Mr Ryan continued “I cannot also understand why the polling both where voters from King St vote cannot be relocated to St John of God school in The Faythe. King St is much closer to The Faythe than Kennedy Park. I am meeting voters every day who dislike having to go a distance to Kennedy Park and would prefer to vote locally in the CBS.
Mr Ryan said that he is unsure as to how turn out on polling day might be affected, but he is preparing to arrange to transport voters to the polling station in Kennedy Park on polling day and any affected voter in King St who needs assistance to get to vote to call 087-6149350 to arrange transport to vote.
