Locals enjoy another successful ‘points’ weekend

JAMES KENNY had a victory on the family horse in Galway today.

Jamie Codd and Denis Murphy brought their horses to Galway today and collected a brace of winners starting with Alpha Carinae by five lengths in the maiden race for four year old mares.
Eurowork was having his fourth outing and took the maiden race for five year old geldings to give Codd and Murphy a second successs by three quarters of a length.
Also at Galway, the Kennys from Craanford, owner Noeleen, handler Liam and jockey Jimmy, won the second division of the maiden race for four year old geldings by ten lengths with first timer Premium Package.
At Dromahane, Co. Cork, Jimmy O’Rourke from Bridgetown won the Winner of One Race on Clutch for Moneygall owner/handler Jim O’Flaherty by two and a half lengths and will be aimed at a ‘winners’ race next.
On Saturday in mid-Antrim the Donnchadh Doyle trained Fakir D’Alene had twenty lengths to spare at the end of the maiden race for four year olds in the hands of Rob James.
Barry O’Neill got ‘a walk over’ on Longhouse Music for Sam Curling in the mares open race. This counts as a winner for the reigning champion who will hold on to his title for another year.
The point-to-point season is fizzing out with ‘a walk over’ in Antrim on Saturday and the Borris House meeting scheduled for next Sunday has been cancelled because of ground conditions, but a few Sundays left and more Wexford winners to come before the champions are crowned.
