The body of an 89 years old man has been found in the back seat of a jeep recovered from the sea at Kilmore Quay this afternoon.
A submerged vehicle was discovered by a diver on Sunday morning and members of the Garda Sub-Aqua Unit participated in a recovery mission today.
The body has been named locally as William ‘Billy’ Busher, Ballyhealy, Kilmore, who had been been missing since January 4th 2018. The last sighting of Mr Busher was at Kilmore Quay on that date.
Local knowledge suggested that the jeep was in silted waters, but could not have been there too long as the marina is constantly used by boating traffic and the most likely scenario is that it may have gone out to sea and was washed back by recent storms or strong currents.
The body was removed to University Hospital Wexford for a post mortem while an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Mr Busher continues.
