Another frustrating Friday night at Ferrycarrig Park as the home side suffered a 2-0 defeat to the league leaders in Division 1 of the SSE Airtricity League.

Wexford started the game brightly with some fine attacking play, it took some great saves from the Cabinteely keeper to game the game scoreless.

A 15th minute right foot strike put the visitors in front on 15 mins, and shortly before the break Jack Watson doubled the lead for Cabinteely.

The half time scoreline of 2-0 certainly flattered the league leaders, their two shots on target resulted in two goals.

Midway through the second half Wexford were reduced to 10 men as Owen McCormack received his second yellow card.

The home-side battled all the way to the final whistle, but the score remained 2-0.

Wexford FC’s next game is at home to Athlone Town next Friday night at 7.45pm.
