Make Rosslare to Dublin railway a core route: Browne

Enniscorthy Railway Station

Wexford TD James Browne has reiterated calls to include the Rosslare to Dublin Railway line within the European Union’s core transport network. Ten-T status opens up access to special EU funding supports for designated transport links.
As well as receiving EU financial support, other parts of the EU have reaped the rewards of core status thanks to increased private investment.
The Fianna Fáil TD says that the railway line deserves core status within the EU’s Trans-European Transport Network, or EU TEN-T network, particularly in a post-Brexit scenario.
“The Rosslare to Dublin Railway line is a critical part of our country’s transport system. Rosslare Europort’s recent approval as a Border Control Post confirms what we already know – when it comes to efficient transport from here to continental Europe, Rosslare Europort is the only game in town”, Deputy Browne explained.
“Rosslare Europort and the railway line connecting it needs investment to offset the threat of a hard Brexit. We need to see that the future of our country’s key transport assets secured. We can do this by making the Belfast to Rosslare corridor a core route within the EU’s TEN-T programme, by upgrading the Rosslare Europort to Tier One status and by placing the port in a stand-alone company,” concluded Deputy Browne.
