Helicopter rescue mission at Hook Lighthouse

The Waterford-based Coast Guard helicopter R117 was called to Hook Lighthouse where a medical evacuation took place on Thursday.
After landing on the grounds of the lighthouse a patient had to be stretchered down 77 steps of the lighthouse to the aircraft.
The crew were assisted by staff from the lighthouse and members of the Fethard-on-Sea Coast Guard ground unit.
The patient was flown back to Waterford Airport and handed over to awaiting Waterford Ambulance Paramedics who successfully transported the patient to Waterford University Hospital for treatment.
