Its always a close encounter against Galway, last October, the sides drew 1-1, and on Saturday, Wexford Youths had to come from behind to take the 3 points in their home game against played in Carlow on Saturday afternoon.

The home side fell behind on 19 mins to an Aoife Thompson goal, and the visitors rode their luck 6 minutes later, Rianna Jarrett’s looping header hit the crossbar.

Just before half-time, former Wexford Camogie star, Katrina Parrock, with her first of the season, restored parity to leave it 1-1 at the break.

Early in the second half, Parrock almost had her second, her right foot effort barely missed the top corner. On the hour mark, Lolly Conlon, made a goal saving tackle on Chloe Singleton, who was straight through on goal.

Parrock was again to the fore in the 65th minute, her pin point cross found Rianna Jarrett, and she slotted the ball to the back of the net to make it 2-1, her fifth goal of the season.

Wexford keeper, Sophie Lenehan, made a brilliant finger tip save with 20 minutes to go.

Wexford travel to Peamount Utd next Saturday at 6.30pm to take on their arch rivals.
