Camogie- Craanford get the better of Oylegate

Craanford had a successful start to the intermediate camogie league with a skilful win over Oylegate on bank holiday Monday.

Oylegate were first out of the stalls with points coming from Katie Fortune and Lorraine O’Connor, Craanford responded with a goal from county star Katie Smyth. At half time only a point separated the sides on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-6.

Not many sliothers passed the strong half-back line of the North Wexford side, but one did get passed, led by Dervla Doyle from her own half back line, which resulted in a penalty. Although their dreams were shattered by a skilful Rebecca Doran.

Craanford added four points, Una Sinnott, Katie Smyth, Laura Doran and Aoife Curran. Lorraine O’Connor continued her tally, converting four more frees.

Two subs were produced from each team, and all made an impact. It was a tight game, Craanford got the bragging rights on this occasion with a final scoreline of 1-7 to 0-8
