The Wexford Senior Footballers gained their third win in the Allianz Football League, this afternoon, in Innovate Wexford Park, as they defeated Limerick by a single score.
Proceedings opened brightly for the home side as Eoghan Nolan pointed from a 45 after 3 minutes, and the Shels player quickly added another point, 0-02 to 0-00.
Limerick converted from a placed ball moments later, but 3 points from Jonathan Bealin and one from Kevin O’Grady pushed the home side into a 5 point lead.
Scores were traded equally for the remainder of the first half; Wexford led 0-10 to 0-05 at the break, Conor Devitt with 2, Eoghan Nolan converted another 45, and Niall Hughes opened his account.
Conor Devitt quickly added another following the re-start, but three unanswered Limerick points reduced the home advantage to 3 points, 0-11 to 0-08.
A purple patch saw Wexford wipe out the Limerick challenge, as two points from Bealin, and another from Devitt pushed the lead back out to six points.
Limerick pointed in the 59th min, and three minutes later, they raised the green flag, just two points now divided the teams, unbelievably no side registered a score for the next 10 minutes, deep into injury time Sean McSweeney pointed to leave the bare minimum between the sides.
With one game remaining, this victory, leaves Wexford fourth in the table, in their final outing, they travel to Derry.
