New Year funding for about 100 Wexford groups

BMX action at Riverchapel is one of the new and exciting sports for young people.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Deputy Michael Ring announced today that more than 3,000 projects nationally has been allocated funding under the Community Enhancement Programme (CEP), including about 100 projects located in Co. Wexford.
Wexford Minister Michael D’Arcy confirmed to WexfordToday.com that Wexford has benefitted to the tune of €470,89 in funding from the 2018 CEP. €150,065 was allocated in May 2018 and a further €320,827 was allocated in September 2018.
The CEP supports a range of investment in all areas of communities, such as childcare groups, playgrounds, recreational groups, sports grounds, landscaping, and supporting the elderly.
Typical enhancements under the programme could include the renovation of community centre’s and community amenities; improvements to town parks and common areas and spaces; and the purchase of equipment which is used to benefit the community.
The funding was allocated to each LCDC.
