The River Slaney has burst its banks in Enniscorthy town centre tonight and Templeshannon Quay which accommodates the N11 Dublin to Wexford road is closed to all traffic.
However, traffic is flowing freely over both bridges and diversions are in place. Traffic normally using Templeshannon Quay is diverted up the Shannon and back onto the N11 at Rafter Bridge and is flowing well with only slight delays.
Traffic approaching Rafter Bridge from the Wexford side is unaffected and is moving well.
Since early this afternoon the quayside on the south side of the Seamus Rafter Bridge leading to the Riverside Park Hotel has been closed to traffic.
Wexford County Council is closely monitoring the situation at Enniscorthy tonight, however, it is dry and calm in the area at present, and the situation is expected improve when the tide begins to fall.
The road leading to Edermine Bridge has been closed since early today.
Many rural roads have been subjected to huge volumes of rain as Storm Deirdre passes over the country and extreme caution is advised, in fact, unless the journey is absolutely necessary don’t make it.
