Spectacular scenes in Enniscorthy tonight when the town was invaded by 250 vehicles covered in flashing lights and emitting musical sounds at the Light Up The Night Road Run.
The event was organised and supervised by the members and friends of Oylegate Vintage Club with the co-ordination of the Garda Traffic Corps and patience from hundreds of motorists who were caught up in the extravaganza.
A convoy of new trucks, vintage trucks, new and vintage tractors and cars participated taking the N11 from Oylegate to Enniscorthy where there was a warm welcome and a strong turnout from the townspeople.
In less than an hour everybody was ready for the road again and traversed the N11 in the opposite direction. There was a tail-back for miles, but only a slight delay to normal roadusers.
The organisers were delighted with the success of the event which was the first time for the club to stage a charity road run at night.
The event was a fundraiser for Pieta House Wexford and originated from Oylegate Community Centre and returned there where the organisers thanked everybody who supported the venture and laid of light refreshments for the participants and those that assisted along the route.
