Barry O’Neill was in super form at the Westmeath and Longford point-to-point races held at Corbeagh House today where he rode three winners and stretched his lead at the top of the national riders’ table with 17 winners this season.
The champion from Ballindaggin got into his stride in the second division of the maiden race for four year olds on first timer Killer Clown who came home one length clear of Carry On The Magic belonging to the Fogartry family from Cleariestown and ridden by Jimmy O’Rourke.
Killer Clown is trained by Colin Bowe for the Milestone Racing Partnership and looks a lively prospect for the future.
O’Neill had a quick double half an hour later when he guided the Shane Donohoe trained Destination Dylan to a four lengths victory in the maiden race for five year olds and he completed his treble on Kruzhlinn, trained by Gordon Elliott for Camila Sharples, with five lengths to spare.
Rob James was in winning form too; winning the first division of the four year old maiden on Buzz De Turcoing for Ballindaggin handler Donnchadh Doyle and the Monbeg Syndicate.
There was also racing at Ballindenisk, Co. Cork, today where Jamie Codd won the first division of the maiden race for four year olds on Overthetop, owned and trained by Denis Murphy at Ballyboy Stables, The Ballagh, by one and a half lengths.
Codd then hopped into his car and dashed to Fairyhouse where he completed a double on the day at different tracks when partnering Envoi Allen, (4/9 fav.) in the concluding bumper for Chevely Park Stud and Gordon Elliott.
Point-to-point action on our doorstep next Sunday, December 9th, when the Carlow Farmers action happens at Borris House. First race at 12 noon.
