‘Save Bunclody Hotel’ public meeting planned

A public meeting to ‘Save Bunclody Hotel’ has been arranged for the River’s Edge, Bunclody, on Tuesday, June 12th at 8 pm and concerned locals are urged to attend.

Planning for change of use was lodged but invalidated for some technical reason and will have to be re-advertised and re-submitted. There is local opposition to a change of use for the building.
On May 31st it was reported by WexfordToday.com that The Millrace Hotel is to be converted for use as a nursing home following its sale for a figure understood to be just under €2 million to Prudent Healthcare Ltd.
John Dargan of Prudent Healthcare said; “The proposed nursing home will provide significant employment in the area during the refurbishment phase and on completion the property will be a state-of-the-art luxurious nursing home facility offering between 50 and 60 beds.”
Purpose built as a hotel in 2004, the Millrace Hotel is a four-storey building with 60 bedrooms across its upper three floors.
