MILLRACE HOTEL, BUNCLODY.

The Millrace Hotel, Bunclody, is to be converted for use as a nursing home following its sale for a figure understood to be just under €2 million to Prudent Healthcare Ltd, and is reported in today’s Commercial Property Section of The Irish Independent.
The hotel, which had been under the management of the McGettigan Group, came on the market in July of last year with a guide price of €2m through agent CBRE.
While many of the residents of Bunclody had hoped to see the property continue operating as a hotel, John Hughes of CBRE’s hotel division told the Irish Independent the property had attracted several alternative users, including the purchaser.
John Dargan of Prudent Healthcare told the Irish Independent that “the proposed nursing home will provide significant employment in the area during the refurbishment phase and on completion the property will be a state-of-the-art luxurious nursing home facility offering between 50 and 60 beds.”
Purpose built as a hotel in 2004, the Millrace Hotel is a four-storey building with 60 bedrooms across its upper three floors.
